Home Infusion Service
This is a unique service that is offered to patients via their specialist.
The service is provided by a team of highly trained, experienced nurses that visit the patient in their home or workplace and administer treatment via IV Cannulation.
These roles are ideally suited to those nurses seeking casual employment.
Full training is provided and each nurse is equipped with a full infusion kit once patients have been allocated.
All nurses within this team must provide documentation relating to qualifications in each of the following areas:
- Nursing Registration
- IV Cannulation Certification
- Currency of Life Support Certification
Copies of each of the above documents must be provided before acceptance is given to attend a training program.
Nurses wishing to join this team need to be confident and highly experienced in IV Cannulation techniques as many patients are very ill and can present with limited venous access.

Nurse Advisor
Nurse advisor roles can be widely varied in their structure.
This broad title is used to cover a multitude of activities that can be undertaken in the course of each client specific role. Generally, the range of activities could involve a combination of the following:
- Recruitment of audience. This could include GP’s, specialists, retail pharmacists, industry managers and sometimes multiples of these
- Assisting sales representatives recruit required audience
- Presentations to doctors
- Patient audits covering a specific therapeutic area. These can often involve manually handling patient records but usually involve a particular level of sorting using Medical Practice Software
- Mail merges using Medical Practice Software and putting together mailings
- Phone calls to patients
- Clinical sessions with patients
- Helping doctors complete documents or providing an advisory service on completion of particular audit documents that need to be submitted by doctors
As each of the roles is usually client specific, training is provided across all aspects of the job description and includes the most common medical practice software packages when applicable.
These roles are widely used by Medical companies seeking to assist the physicians and patients to achieve better results. Use of these types of programs is highly ethical with the underlying foundation being to improve clinical outcomes or identify better methods of treating particular medical conditions.
Nurse Advisor roles can be either full-time or part-time depending on client requirements.
Nurses wishing to apply for these roles need to be Registered nurses with current registration. Additionally, an outgoing personality, persistent nature and commercial acumen are usually required to ensure success in the role.
